First: Warm yourself up instead of trying to warm up your environment. Because it’s easier to change your body temperature than the room temperature. So instead of turning up the heat, add another layer of clothing.
Next: Invite a bunch of friends over for a cookie baking party. The oven will warm up the house – as will the body heat from having people over.
One final way to warm up – move your bed away from the wall. If your bed butts up against an exterior wall, the cold will seep through. So, move it away from the wall – and raise the whole thing higher… Like on bricks. Because the cold can be conducted up through the floor, too.

Sleep specialist Dr. Cathy Goldstein says it’s worse to be too hot!
That’s because our core temperature needs to drop to trigger our sleep hormones. So if we’re too hot, our body thinks it’s not bedtime yet, so it keeps our brain alert. And if you do fall asleep when you’re too hot, you’ll miss out on slow-wave sleep – the most restorative kind. Ideally, the bedroom should be between 60 and 67 degrees. That’s the optimal temperature for sleep.

That’s because changes in temperature and barometric pressure are big triggers. They have an effect on nerves and blood vessels. Plus, the dry air this time of year can make you more prone to sinus issues that can also trigger headaches. The best thing you can do is to stay hydrated – and to keep a humidifier in your bedroom. That’ll help your sinuses. And if you know a storm is coming, pop some ibuprofen ahead of time.

The forehead is the sweatiest spot on the body!

…and there’s a good reason. Scientists say, the brain operates best within a small range of temperatures. But like a car engine, it can get overheated and needs to cool down. So when we sweat from our forehead, it cools down our face – and our brain

Why do women always seem to be COLDER than men?

According to physiologist Dr. Kathryn Sandberg, it boils down to the fact that women naturally have a higher percentage of body fat than men. The extra fat is meant to keep their core warm, to protect their reproductive organs……But the trade-off is that women have less protection around their extremities. In fact, a study found that women average a core temperature almost half a degree warmer than men, while their hands and feet average about three degrees colder! Dr. Sandberg says that explains why women have a lower tolerance for cold than men……because the blood vessels in a woman’s fingers, for example, constrict more than a man’s. So, even when men feel toasty and warm, a woman exposed to the exact same temperature may feel colder, sooner.

Soak your feet in warm water! We start to feel drowsy when our body temperature dips at night. But if you’re still wide-awake, try soaking your feet for a few minutes in warm water and letting them air-dry. That’ll lower your body temperature quickly, igniting your sleep hormones.
