Moms-to-be, you can boost your unborn baby’s brainpower by making fruit your go-to snack. Researchers at the University of Alberta analyzed what mothers-to-be ate, and compared that to each baby’s IQ in the first year of life. The result: Moms who ate more fruit while pregnant had babies who scored higher on developmental tests – and the more fruit they ate, the higher the baby’s IQ. The reason? Because fruit is packed with antioxidants and nutrients, which pass from moms to their unborn babies.

…and wondered, “What’s wrong with me?” Well, nothing. But you are more likely than men to tear up for random reasons. According to the book Why Only Humans Weep, emotional tears are triggered by prolactin. And women naturally have more prolactin than men, because it triggers milk production after a baby is born. But even if you’re not pregnant or a mom, you still have higher levels of prolactin, making you more prone to crying.

…you’ve gotta get a handle on your stress! Because researchers from the University of Louisville found that women under constant stress are 45% LESS likely to conceive. And it’s especially important to chill out when you’re ovulating – about 14 days into your cycle. The experts found that, during peak ovulation time, women who reported the highest levels of stress registered a significant drop in fertility. The doctors say this is a wake-up call to patients and doctors, that mental wellness is very important for women trying to get pregnant.

Guys, if you’re trying to conceive with your wife – do this for 2 weeks first: Yoga. That’s according to the University of Calcutta in India. They found that stress can wreak havoc on a man’s swimmers. But men who did yoga 5 days a week for 2 weeks saw a significant reduction in stress levels… and that resulted in improvement to DNA-damaged sperm – increasing fertility. But you’ll have to keep up your yoga until your wife becomes pregnant to maintain the results.

• First: Calcium supplements and antibiotics. Because the calcium stops your body from absorbing the antibiotic. You can still take calcium, just do it at least 3 hours before or after your antibiotic.

• Also, don’t combine antihistamines and antidepressants. It can cause extreme drowsiness. So if you have allergies and you’re on antidepressants, ask your doctor what pills can clear your sinuses and relieve watery eyes without the sedating effects.

• Lastly, ladies, if you’re on the Pill, steer clear of St. John’s Wort. It can make oral contraceptives less effective… Because it breaks down estrogen, increasing the odds you’ll get pregnant even if you’re on the Pill.

If one of your good friends gives birth, you’re more likely to become pregnant in the next two years. It’s due to “social contagion” – that’s the term psychologists use to describe how our friends’ behaviors and attitudes can influence our own behavior. And a study in the American Sociological Review found that one of the biggest predictors of when a woman will have her first child is when her friends start having children.

Here’s why: A pregnant body produces a hormone called relaxin – which, true to its name, relaxes certain things… Like your pelvic ligaments and joints. It also relaxes ligaments in your feet – so your bones separate a little bit. Add to that the fact that you weigh more when you’re pregnant, and it causes your arches to fall. On average, a woman’s feet will grow by about a half size after having a baby. And that new size is permanent.

A lot of pregnant women with cats are told to avoid their animals and their litter boxes. That’s to protect them against toxoplasmosis – a cat‑borne infection that can cause birth defects, or miscarriages. But experts say you can relax…And go ahead and pet your cat.

A study at the Yale School of Medicine suggests there’s no need to worry about INDOOR cats…Because cats can only catch the disease from another infected cat, or from killing and eating infected wild animals. So, if they’re not going outside, you have nothing to worry about.
