According to Stanford University researchers, mornings matter most. They found having a small victory in the morning – anything from getting to work on time, to fitting in a morning workout – drastically increases your odds of having a productive day. That’s because starting the day with a “win,” no matter how small, triggers the positive feelings that propel you to keep going.

…and cause everything from pimples to wrinkles! Because stress hormones trigger inflammation and protein loss, which breaks down firming collagen. But there IS an antidote: Positivity! UCLA dermatology professor, Dr. Howard Murad, had female study participants read positive affirmations off note cards every day for a month. The result: The women had lower blood pressure, reduced hormonal stress levels AND better skin hydration – which is a major factor in youthful-looking skin. He calls it the brain-beauty connection. And he says thinking positive, and viewing obstacles as opportunities, will help make your skin younger-looking too.

Take a brisk morning walk! Researchers at George Mason University say exercise releases feel-good hormones, triggering a mood boost that can last up to 48 hours. Plus, starting the day on a high note creates a so-called “cascade of positivity” – where one good thing leads to another. It increases the likelihood you’ll get more done, have positive interactions with others, and have less impact from negative events. And the longer you work out, and the more social you make it – like walking with a friend – the happier you’ll feel.

They mean you’re more creative! That’s according to the University of Montreal. For their study, they asked people who have regular nightmares to complete creativity tests. Participants also had their brains monitored while they slept. The result? People who have frequent nightmares also have a dreaming life that triggers the parts of the brain that govern creativity and positivity. And that creativity isn’t limited to just sleep. They also think more creatively while they’re awake.
