Warm some milk to room temperature, then swish it around your mouth for 5 minutes, 5 times a day. A recent study found that can dramatically reduce tooth sensitivity. And for over 50% of people, it provided total relief within 10 days! That’s because milk has a protein called casein, which thickens tooth enamel. And milk helps protect sensitive nerve endings by plugging open pores in tooth enamel with calcium phosphate. So swish room temperature milk around your mouth for 5 minutes, 5 times a day for tooth sensitivity.

Go outside and stand in the sun! Researchers at the University of Manchester found that getting as little as 60-seconds of sunshine can reduce chronic aches and pains as much as 20%. That makes it as effective as most over-the-counter pain relievers. The researchers believe the combination of warmth and natural light triggers your brain to produce a flood of pain-killing endorphins. Being exposed to UV-rays also triggers production of vitamin D, which has been shown to reduce pain from arthritis and muscle aches.

Got pain? Get 60-seconds of sun. It’s that simple, even in the wintertime.

How does a bubble bath sound as a cure for migraines? Pretty good, right? Well, researchers say a bubble bath – using MENTHOL bath gel – may banish your headache. According to professor Paul Goadsby, who specializes in migraines at King’s College London, there’s scientific evidence that menthol is a proven painkiller that’s just as effective as over-the-counter headache remedies.

Menthol comes from the mint plant, and it works by activating a skin receptor that makes us feel cool – and that can relieve pain. It’s the opposite of capsaicin, the compound that makes spicy food taste hot, and triggers our pain receptors – while mint and menthol turn them off. No time for a bath? No problem: Add 3 drops of peppermint essential oil to a tablespoon of water. Soak it up with a cotton ball… And run it across your temples, and along your hairline.

Your head will feel better within 15 minutes.

To fight pain, load your salad with tomatoes and bell peppers (red, yellow, orange or green). They both contain plant compounds called salicylates – which reduce painful inflammation as well as aspirin. And since they’re all natural – no side effects! Researchers at UCLA say you should try to eat a heaping cup of tomatoes or bell peppers daily for the best results.

Have you ever had sore muscles and treated them with something like Tiger Balm? You know, with that tingling sensation? Well, topical ointments can relieve pain by up to 28% – and here’s why… According to pain expert Dr. Jacob Teitelbaum, pain signals and temperature signals run along the same nerve fibers – like a telephone line. So when you apply an ointment with a tingly, cooling sensation – or heat sensation – it’s like a telephone signal with crossed wires. The call doesn’t go through – and in this case, the pain doesn’t go through. And Dr. Teitelbaum says, if you keep those muscle pain ointments in the fridge, you’ll double their pain relief capability.

Doctors at the Mayo Clinic say that warming up a sore back provides 33% more pain relief than taking ibuprofen or acetaminophen… And it often works within about 20 minutes. That’s because – according to inflammation expert and biochemist Dr. Barry Sears – heat relaxes tight muscles, increases blood flow to injured tissues, and flushes out pain-triggering compounds.

So, heat up your back by taking a steamy bath, or using a hot water bottle, heat wraps, or an electric heating pad. And get ready for some relief!

Should you worry if you burn the roof of your mouth with hot pizza?
No, not really. According to burn surgeon Dr. Jeremy Goverman, most mouth burns only affect the first layer of skin. And although it hurts – and makes tasting food difficult – you should heal in a week. To feel better, swish cold water in your mouth, pop an over-the-counter pain reliever if necessary, and if it’s really stinging, you can try an oral analgesic spray.
