Mosquitoes are still active in some parts of the country. Luckily cooler temperatures are arriving, which means mosquitoes won’t be a problem soon. Mosquito bites would be much less annoying if they didn’t ITCH. So, here’s the fix: Rub coconut oil on them! Natural health expert Dr. Joseph Mercola says coconut oil is anti-inflammatory and will reduce swelling and itching faster than other skin treatments. Plus, coconut oil is anti-microbial, so it kills the germs that could cause an infection and helps bites heal quicker.

Also, coconut oil is a super lubricant that helps skin stay hydrated. So, you’re more likely to feel soothing relief from bug bites – rather than a constant urge to scratch!

Do you have allergies? They could be the reason you’re gaining weight! If you’re taking an antihistamine to stop itchy, watery eyes and a runny nose, you’re blocking the neurotransmitter histamine AND a receptor that suppresses your appetite. So try eliminating allergy symptoms with a nasal allergy spray. Nasal meds work faster than pills and shut down allergy symptoms for 80% of people within hours. Plus, they don’t enter your bloodstream, so they don’t cause side effects like some pills.

No! That’s according to the Mayo Clinic. The rash isn’t infectious, and can’t be transmitted by touching blisters on someone else’s skin. It’s an allergic reaction caused ONLY by an oil on the plant’s leaves, which can trigger a painful rash up to 48 hours after contact. The only time you COULD get it from someone else is if you touch the clothes or shoes they were wearing when they were contaminated. To protect yourself, remember the saying “leaves of three, let it be.” And if you suddenly realize you’ve touched poison oak or ivy, you may be able to avoid the rash if you wash the area thoroughly with water and dish soap within 10 minutes. The dish soap will cut through the plant oil and rinse it away.

Allergy sufferers……Put these things on your shopping list: onions, apples, blueberries, red grapes and green tea. According to the journal Clinical & Experimental Allergy, those foods are high in an antioxidant called “quercetin.” And research shows it prevents immune cells from releasing histamine – which is a protein that gives you symptoms like itchy, watery eyes and sneezing.
