It’s okay to have sugar – just have the same amount, at the same time, every day. That’s according to food addiction expert, Dr. Kathleen DesMaisons. She says, if your body learns to anticipate 5 Hershey’s Kisses at 7pm every day, you won’t get a big sugar high, followed by a crash. That happens when your body has to adjust to a sudden influx of sugar. But if your body knows it’s coming, it’ll adjust insulin levels in anticipation. And by eating sugar at the same time every day, it becomes boring to our body – and that kills cravings.

Eating a little chocolate every day is GOOD for you – even if it’s milk chocolate.

According to the journal Heart, people who eat 3.5 ounces of chocolate every day (that’s about 20 Hershey’s kisses) – dark or MILK chocolate – had a 14% lower risk of heart disease and a 23% lower risk of stroke than those who ate no chocolate.
Ounce for ounce, dark chocolate contains more antioxidants called flavonols – than any fruit or vegetable out there! And here’s what a good dose of flavonols will do for your health.
It improves the ability of blood vessels to expand and contract, which results in better blood flow to your hands, legs, and brain.
It helps the body regulate blood pressure.
A healthy dose of flavonols also decreases the stickiness of blood platelets – which reduces the risk of blood clots and stroke.
And it increases your ‘good’ cholesterol – which lowers your risk of a heart attack.
But since chocolate is still high in fat and calories, a couple of squares a day is plenty.

If you’re trying to lose weight, here are 3 foods that sound fattening, but could actually help you lose weight:

The first one is a staple in my kitchen: Peanut butter. A Harvard University study found that people who ate peanut butter twice a week lost more weight than those who didn’t. That’s because the monounsaturated fatty acids in peanut butter signal our digestive system to release a compound called O-E-A– which literally turns down our appetite, and turns up our metabolism.

Next are Dairy products. When we’re low on calcium, our bodies produce a hormone called calcitriol that triggers the production of fat cells. So, more of what we eat winds up on our waistline. And taking a calcium supplement isn’t the answer. Scientists still don’t know why, but people who have a glass of milk, or an ounce of low-fat cheese every day produce less fat-storing calcitriol than those who take calcium in pill form.

The last food that makes dieters smile: Chocolate… especially dark chocolate. Studies show that the food dieters crave most often, and most intensely, is chocolate. And since unsatisfied cravings lead to binge eating, occasionally indulging in chocolate can keep your eating in check, and leave you thousands of calories ahead. Just be sure to limit your serving size to one ounce… Which is equal to 6 Hershey’s kisses.
