It could be your cluttered kitchen, workspace, or even your computer desktop. Researchers at Princeton University found clutter can trigger sensory overload – which forces the brain to work extra hard, tiring it out faster. That creates fatigue and uneasiness. So try straightening up your workspace, and see if it helps.

Forget about trying a little of “the hair of the dog that bit you.” That old adage can be dated back to Medieval times, when it was a treatment for rabies! And doctors believed that literally stuffing the bite wound with hair from the rabid dog would help patients recover. It didn’t work then – and the drinking equivalent won’t cure a hangover now. According to the Mayo Clinic, a hangover occurs once you’ve stopped drinking, and the liver is finally able to quickly lower your blood alcohol levels… Triggering symptoms that can include headache, thirst, fatigue, dizziness, and nausea. You can feel better with rest, hydration, and aspirin. But doctors say the only real cure is time. So don’t bother drinking a Bloody Mary after a rough night. Quoting the Mayo Clinic experts here: “The hair of the dog that bit you” won’t work.

When participants in a recent study spent as little as ten minutes inhaling the fragrance of citrus fruit, they saw a significant increase in their overall mood – which included a DECREASE in their levels of tension, anxiety, depression, confusion, fatigue and anger.

So, peel an orange, get a whiff of a citrus essential oil, or mix up a batch of lemonade. And be sure to breathe deeply.

When your energy is low, make sure you have a tangerine – or tangerine oil – on hand. Taking 6 slow breaths of that scent activates the brain’s limbic system, producing energizing beta waves. And the Smell and Taste Treatment and Research Foundation says, within a minute, you’ll have less fatigue and more energy.

If you’ll be running a marathon soon, here’s news that’ll make it a lot easier.
Go ahead and walk for a minute every mile-and-a-half you complete. According to a new German study, racers who did that finished as fast as those who ran the whole time…… BUT they felt less pain and fatigue, thanks to the built-in recovery time.

Does your brain sometimes feel foggy and unfocused? Drink a big glass of water! Research shows that dehydration can cause headaches, fatigue, a lack of focus, and impaired memory. But drinking water can boost the flow of information between brain cells, improving focus and memory by 34%.

It might be time to hit the dance floor.

A recent study in the Journal of the American Medical Association found that women who took dance classes twice a week reported fewer stress-related symptoms than those who didn’t dance… Like less fatigue, anxiety, and depressed moods. Even better, the positive effects lasted from the very first class, to nearly 8 months after the last class ended.

A Princeton University study found that people with unorganized closets have less energy and felt more fatigue. That’s because the brain gets overwhelmed by visual clutter. It slows the brain’s reaction time. So, spend a few minutes at the end of each day putting your clothes away.

Guys, are you feeling less macho?

It could be because you’re low on sleep! Men who get less than 5 hours of sleep a night for just a week, significantly lower their testosterone levels. That can mean low energy, fatigue, poor concentration, and lower muscle mass and bone density. So, if you want to be on top of your game, guys, get 7 hours of sleep a night.

Roughly 30 million people in North America suffer from depression.
