If you always feel exhausted in the middle of the day, you might need a boost of boron. That’s a mineral that gets our brain fired up, so we produce more energizing brainwaves. To get your fix of boron, here’s what the researchers at the U.S. Drug Administration recommend: Make one of your daily snacks an apple, a‑half cup of raisins or almonds, or two dried apricots. Within a week, you’ll be getting enough boron to eliminate that midday slump.

Sure, it raises body temperature – so when your core temperature drops again it triggers the production of sleep hormones. But there’s an even simpler reason. It exhausts us physically! And according to the University of Pennsylvania – which studied activity patterns of nearly half a million people – those who were tired from physical exertion slept better. And averaged a good 7 to 8 hours of quality sleep. So make sure you get your 30 minutes of exercise every day.

Next time you feel your workout dragging, and your energy flagging, give yourself a mental pep-talk. According to the journal Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise, trying to convince yourself NOT to feel exhausted can actually make your workout feel HALF as difficult – and power you through. So, tell yourself things like: “You’re doing great!” “Keep pushing!” and “Feeling good!”

Job burnout – or smoking? Well, if you’re exhausted by your work – physically and emotionally… And your boss is a jerk… You’re a prime candidate for heart problems. A new study has found a strong link between job burnout and coronary heart disease – which is when plaque builds up in your arteries and can lead to a heart attack. In fact, people who were at the top of the job burnout scale were 80% more likely to have coronary disease. That was WAY more extreme than the researchers expected… and it makes job burnout a stronger predictor of heart disease than smoking, high cholesterol and stress! So if your job is making you sick – you may want to change jobs before it kills you, literally.

Here’s a reason you could be tired.

According to a report in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, having too many choices can cause you to feel tired. Whether it’s trying to pick from all the coffee choices at Starbucks or pain relievers at the drug store, having to consider too many options – good or bad – can be exhausting.

So what can you do? Once you find something you like, stick with it instead of second-guessing yourself. When you feel more content with the choices you make, you’ll be less stressed, get better sleep, and have more energy.
