You need sleep more than you need food. You can survive two weeks without food, but 10 days without sleep will kill you.

Next: All-nighters make you feel drunk. Going 16 hours without sleep makes you feel as loopy and out of it as if you’d had a couple beers.

Finally: Messing with your sleep cycle can cause cancer. The evidence is so strong that the World Health Organization considers poor sleep quality and a lack of sleep carcinogens.

propane-vs-charcoal-wp

Scientists say: Propane has the edge. Here’s why… In studies, meat grilled over charcoal contained more carcinogens – or cancer-causing compounds – than meat grilled over propane flames. That’s because when fat drips from the meat, it creates a toxic smoke that coats what you’re cooking. And charcoal makes more smoke than propane. Plus, charcoal burns hotter – so there’s more char on the meat, which is also carcinogenic. Now, a propane grill isn’t harmless, it’s just less harmful. So to make any cookout healthier, trim the fat off your meats, so there are fewer drippings. Next: Marinate your meat before cooking. By soaking burgers, chicken or steaks in a marinade of lemon juice, vinegar, garlic, and herbs, you can cut the formation of cancer-causing compounds by 90%. Finally, flip your burgers more often. That also reduces the amount of carcinogens that form.

avotomato-wpLike: Avocado and Tomato. Tomatoes are loaded with the antioxidant lycopene. But when you combine tomatoes with avocado, the unsaturated fat in the avocado helps the body absorb SEVEN TIMES the normal amount of lycopene! And lycopene inhibits the production of cancer cells.

Another good combo: Grilled steak and Brussels sprouts. There are compounds in Brussels sprouts which help the body flush out carcinogens. Including the carcinogens which form on charred meat during grilling.

Finally: Here’s a BAD food combo… Alcohol and energy drinks. Caffeine is a stimulant, while alcohol is a depressant. And when you overload your body with both at the same time, it puts tremendous stress on your heart… So don’t even think about ordering a Red Bull and Vodka.

Marinate BEFORE you grill!

Those burgers, steaks, or ribs sizzling on the grill are cooking up chemicals that can potentially turn your cells cancerous. High heat reacts with proteins in red meat, poultry and fish to create chemicals that are linked to cancer, especially of the colon and breast. And since they form within cooked meat, you can’t get rid of them by scraping off char. However, meat that’s been marinated in a mixture of thyme, rosemary, garlic, and black pepper has been shown to contain 88% fewer carcinogens after grilling. Marinate your meat for an hour to get the full benefits.
