How can you avoid getting a bruise? Grab a black tea bag, soak it in warm water – not boiling – then hold it against the spot for 5 minutes. The tannins in the tea will soak into your skin and constrict the blood vessels, reducing swelling and inflammation. And if you DO get a bruise anyway, it’ll be less visible and heal faster than if you hadn’t used this black tea trick.

For smooth, glossy hair, rinse your hair with tea! Dermatologist Dr. Deborah Jaliman says tea is anti-inflammatory and can reduce scalp irritation, so hair grows in healthier. And tea’s antioxidants smooth the hair’s cuticle, so it looks shinier. For dark hair, try black tea. For light hair, try chamomile. Steep 7 bags in 15 ounces of hot water for 15 minutes. Then, toss the bags, let the water cool, pour it over your hair, and rinse after 5 minutes. Try that weekly for shinier, smoother hair.

Whether it’s black or green, a daily cup of tea may help you to live longer. The reason? Because it soothes your heart. Research from Johns Hopkins found that people who drink between 1 and 3 cups of tea a day have less calcium buildup in their arteries… which makes them 35% LESS likely to have a heart attack or stroke than those who DON’T drink tea.

…and solve your stinky foot problem: Fill a foot bath with hot water – drop in a black tea bag – and soak those smelly puppies of yours for 15 to 20 minutes. The hot water will dilate your blood vessels helping you relax… and the tannins in the tea act like an astringent, killing the bacteria that make your feet stink.

It’s also good for stinky feet. If you soak your feet in strong, lukewarm black tea a‑half hour a day, you can reduce foot sweating and odor. The tea’s tannic acid closes pores and dries out your feet, like an astringent. And if you add a little peppermint oil to your tea foot bath, it acts like an extra odor buster.

On any given day, our snacking contributes to over 30% of the calories we take in – totaling over 900 calories, on average. But there may be a simple solution… Drink black tea. The antioxidants in tea keep blood sugar stable. And when our blood sugar levels remain steady, our hunger hormones don’t spike, so we’re less likely to snack! Black tea also stabilizes our stress hormones – so we’re less likely to soothe our stress with food. To get the best results, drink 3 cups of black tea a day.

In a study from UCLA, the combination of antioxidants in all teas and flavonoids in apples can reduce the growth of tumors. In fact, tea with apples is more than twice as effective as tea on its own. That’s because the compound in apples, called quercetin, helps us absorb more of the tea’s disease-fighting properties.

Did you know that a glass of iced tea is more than refreshing? Black tea can help reduce stress too. That’s because it has a combination of plant compounds that short-circuit the brain’s production of the stress hormone cortisol.

To get the biggest health boost from tea – brew your own…
Skip the bottled kind.

You’d have to drink 20 bottles a day to get the same level of disease-fighting polyphenols in 1 cup of brewed tea. And if you liked it iced, chill your home-brewed tea immediately so it’ll retain as many antioxidants as possible.

Forget nibbling on parsley, the easiest and most readily available method is to sip some black or green tea. The tea chemically binds to smelly breath compounds and masks them. For the greatest effect, have tea without sugar and swish it around your mouth before swallowing.
