People who do, eat more nutritiously overall – and weigh nearly 8 pounds less, on average. They also have waists that are nearly 2 inches smaller than non-avocado eaters. That’s because the healthy fat and fiber in avocado keeps you feeling full.

It may not be the season for avocados in all areas, but avocados are available in most markets, so grab one next time you’re at the store.

The National Institutes of Health says NO. They found no direct link between kids eating sweets and becoming MORE energetic. The fact is, parents expect kids to have a “sugar high,” so they may notice it more. Plus, kids tend to be more excited at events like birthday parties where sugary foods are served. So the environment is probably more to blame than the food.

Whether you want to exercise more often, find love, or start a garden: Write down your goal, sign and date it, and put it on your fridge, or bedside table. Researchers from the University of Scranton in Pennsylvania found when we make a pledge, we feel more committed – even if we’re the only ones who see it. And that simple move gets us from the “thinking about it” stage to the “taking action” stage, and makes us 10 times more likely to reach our goals. Again, to accomplish your goal, write it down, sign and date it, and put it somewhere you’ll see it all the time.

It’s a good thing to worry – at least a little bit. That’s according to a study at the University of California. The reason? Because worrying motivates us to make healthier choices, like exercising more, eating healthier, and wearing sunscreen every day – rain or shine. Worrying also prepares us for negative outcomes. And when the worst doesn’t come to pass, the relief we feel triggers production of serotonin, which gives our happiness a boost. So a little bit of worry is good!

And you, the text message sender, will get a jolt of oxytocin, too.

Walnuts could be the key to a long and healthy life. Research from the Journal Of Nutrition says, having two large handfuls of walnuts every week – about the size of a quarter-cup each – can reduce inflammation, which is the root cause of everything from diabetes to cancer to heart disease.

So what makes walnuts so magical? Their omega-3 fatty acid content. A quarter cup of walnuts provides 100% of the omega-3 fats you need daily. Plus, polyunsaturated fats in walnuts — the good fats – activate genes that reduce fat storage. Translation: They help you lose weight. So, munch on two large handfuls of walnuts each week.
