Senior citizens who shop every day – for groceries or anything else – live longer. That’s according to new research on nearly 2,000 people over the age of 65. Because the physical activity of shopping, combined with social interactions, and using your brainpower to make lists, figure out prices, and consider ingredients have all been shown to have mood-boosting and life-extending benefits. In fact, during the 10-year study, daily shoppers were 25% less likely to die than people who shopped less often. So tell grandma and grandpa to go shopping! It’ll help them live longer. Better yet, go with them! Spending time with family is also a longevity-booster for older folks.
