According to the New England Aquarium, the risk of dying from a shark attack is roughly 1-in-250-million. But the risk of dying in a vending machine accident is roughly 1-in-112 million. So, a vending machine is roughly twice as lethal as a shark! Why are vending machines so deadly? The typical scenario is this: A machine takes someone’s money and malfunctions. The customer then shakes the machine to free the snack, and the machine tips over and crushes them. So bottom line: Fear the vending machine more than the shark.
