Here’s a do-it-yourself recipe to ease the pain: Steep a couple chamomile tea bags in two cups of hot water for 10 minutes. Once the water cools, pour it into a spray bottle, and chill it in the fridge. Then, spritz it onto your burned skin as often as you need to. You can also soak a washcloth in it and use it as a cool compress. It’ll work, because chamomile contains anti-inflammatory compounds that help reduce pain and redness. You can even find skin creams containing chamomile. It’s one of the most ancient medicinal herbs known to mankind. Plus, chamomile has antioxidants that help the skin heal. According to Case Western Reserve University, sipping chamomile tea – or even eating the leaves – has been used for centuries to treat wounds, ulcers, skin irritations, bruises, and burns. And chamomile has been used externally to treat diaper rash, ear and eye infections, and poison ivy. All that from the chamomile plant! Now go and impress your friends.

The average barbecue grill is twice as germy as the average toilet seat!

That’s from Lisa Ackerley, a leading expert on food safety. And a grill’s heat won’t necessarily kill illness-causing microbes, which can be transferred to your burgers and hotdogs.

So why are outdoor grills so filthy? Because living in the backyard exposes them to decaying plant matter, food, and bird droppings. And that makes the grill a magnet for harmful bacteria like E.coli, salmonella, and listeria.

Bottom line: To protect the guests at your next barbecue, give your grill a good scrub before you fire it up.

If you’re constantly exhausted, even when you sleep enough, you might need more B‑12! The vitamin boosts production of energizing and mood-boosting chemicals, like dopamine and serotonin. That’s why the two classic signs of low B‑12 are lack of energy and blue moods! But the best natural sources of B‑12 aren’t so popular: Like sardines, mackerel and organ meats, including liver and kidneys. So ask your doctor about taking a thousand-microgram supplement. That can reverse fatigue and cut your risk of depression in half within 3 weeks. You can also get B-12 from foods like beef, salmon, milk, fortified cereals and soy products.

‘Tis the season for “water-tubing”… where people ride on inner tubes pulled by boats. But before your next water-tube ride, be careful. Because according to the Journal of Physical Activity and Health, water-tubing injuries have almost tripled in the past two decades. And experts say children are more likely than adults to suffer serious head injuries, because kids tend to pack two or more riders on a single inner tube – which exposes them to more danger if the tube flips over. So stick to the “one-rider-at-a-time” rule when water-tubing and always wear a life jacket/vest.

If you don’t have time for the gym, IMAGINE yourself working out instead. In a study at the Cleveland Clinic, people who visualized themselves exercising their pinky fingers or elbows for 15 minutes actually increased their strength. And after 3 months, their strength levels rose 5% in their elbows, and over 50% in their pinkies. And the researchers believe you can strengthen ANY muscles with a virtual workout. So, on the days you’re too busy to hit the gym, spend 15 minutes imagining yourself working out. And you’ll be doing your body a world of good. Give it a try.

Hot and humid weather is a recipe for serious B.O. Here’s the fix: Grab some baking soda. Just like leaving a box in your fridge kills odors – it can do the same on your skin. Because baking soda kills the odor-causing bacteria that tends to fester on damp skin. In fact, it’s so effective, scientists say that one application fights off odors for up to 24 hours.

All you have to do is shake a tablespoon of baking soda onto a washcloth, and add a little water to make a paste. Then, in the shower, scrub your underarms, skin creases, and feet for one minute, then rinse thoroughly.

If you’re going on a road trip, here’s a great tip for relieving motion sickness: Listen to some music. But make sure you’re the DJ in the car. In the study, only people that had control over which radio station to listen to – or which songs to play – got relief from their motion sickness.

Here are two indicators someone is following you with the intent to do you harm. These come from former CIA agent Jason Hanson.

The first sign is WAY too much eye contact. Normally, when we make eye contact with a stranger, we break it after a second. But an attacker will maintain eye contact because you’re their target and they’re trying to intimidate you.

The second sign that someone means you harm: They match the pace at which you’re moving.Normal people will vary their walking or running pace because it feels uncomfortable being in sync with a stranger.

So if you notice too much eye contact, or someone’s in sync with your pace – get to safety immediately.

Want to be able to beat your grandkids at Scrabble or Words With Friends? Here’s how to keep your brain sharp as you get older: Spend two minutes a day catching up with a friend! It doesn’t matter whether you do it in person, over the phone, or on Facebook, it’ll cut your risk of age-related memory loss in half. That’s according to scientists at Cornell University. It’ll also boost your odds of staying sharp after you retire by about 50%. The reason? Because talking to someone you care about kick-starts the body’s production of neurotrophins, which are compounds that fuel the growth of healthy brain cells. That’s it: Just 2 minutes of chatting with a friend every day can keep your brain sharp as you age.

Keep some peppermint essential oil on hand! German researchers found the smell relieves allergy symptoms as effectively as many over-the-counter decongestants and antihistamines. It’s down to the cooling menthol in mint, which relaxes arteries and muscles, and shrinks mucus membranes, making it easier to breathe! So, when your allergies flare up, add a few drops of peppermint oil to a pot of boiling water. Then, don’t burn yourself! But lean your head over the steam and inhale deeply for 5 minutes. Your sinuses should unclog in no time.
