Researchers found that people were more willing to discuss sensitive, personal topics – and made more eye contact – when they were sitting in large rooms with a long desk or table. And the bigger the space – and the wider the furniture – the more people felt at ease and opened up. That’s because we feel less self-conscious in bigger spaces… and we feel more scrutinized when we’re confined or in a more enclosed space – like a trapped animal.
