The fix? Take a brisk 5-minute walk every hour. University of Colorado School of Medicine researchers found people who did so-called “micro-bouts” of exercise felt 31% less tired, more cheerful and more alert all afternoon, compared to those who sat for 6 hours straight, without any breaks. The reason? Because short spurts of activity help offset the stress, reduced metabolism, and energy-draining effects of too much sitting.
