Parents, know this! Experts now say we should NEVER cover a baby’s stroller with a blanket or gauze to protect them from the sun. Because Swedish researchers found even a thin cover reduces air circulation. And a covered stroller sitting in the sun gets 15 degrees HOTTER inside than a stroller left uncovered.
Plus, that can increase the risk of SIDS – or Sudden Infant Death Syndrome – which can be triggered by overheating. That’s from pediatrician Dr. Svante Norgren from the Astrid Lindgren Children’s Hospital in Stockholm. Especially since the blanket can block your view of the baby, and you may not know something’s wrong until it’s too late.
So, go ahead and attach some type of visor to your baby’s stroller – but never use a blanket to block the sun.
