New parents, you may want to try adding mood lighting to the baby nursery. There’s something called “the Sleepy Baby light bulb.” It’s an ordinary-looking yellow light bulb, but it’s recommended for use during nighttime feedings and diaper changes. The light it produces supposedly calms the baby and helps them get back to sleep after a nighttime wakening. It helps the parents, too. That’s because it eliminates all blue light – which tells us to wake up when it hits our retina.
Sleepy Baby is just one of several light bulbs out there, marketed toward helping babies and their parents sleep better at night. You can find them at The Home Depot, Target and on Amazon.
