Guys, if you’re trying to conceive with your wife – do this for 2 weeks first: Yoga. That’s according to the University of Calcutta in India. They found that stress can wreak havoc on a man’s swimmers. But men who did yoga 5 days a week for 2 weeks saw a significant reduction in stress levels… and that resulted in improvement to DNA-damaged sperm – increasing fertility. But you’ll have to keep up your yoga until your wife becomes pregnant to maintain the results.

Grab some JUNIPER essential oil. Researchers in Korea found when people massaged juniper oil into sore, achy muscles, their pain usually went away WITHIN 5 minutes. Because the oil has at least 10 different powerful antioxidant compounds… and when they’re absorbed into muscle tissue, they reduce inflammation in a way that relieves pain fast.

We’ve talked before about how toxic xylitol is to pets (cats and dogs)… that’s the artificial sweetener found in a lot of sugar-free foods. But your dog is most likely to encounter xylitol in sugar-free gum that’s been spit out on the street or sidewalk. And if your dog gets it on their paws, and tries to lick it off, they could get really sick. So always check your dog’s paws after a walk… and if there’s gum stuck to their pads, get some vegetable oil and rub it all around. It’ll practically disintegrate the gum within seconds – so you can safely wipe it away.

Don’t let it turn into something more serious, like a respiratory infection. And you can do that by gargling with salt water once a day. A Japanese study found that gargling with salt water not only soothed a sore throat – it reduced the odds of a more serious infection by 40%. That’s because salt is anti-microbial and anti-viral… so it removes microscopic viruses from the soft tissues of the throat. It also loosens mucus so you can cough it up and get it out.

You’ve heard us say not to sleep face down because it causes wrinkles… well, it’ll also tweak your spine. Chiropractor Dr. Jan Lefkovitz says, quote, “It’s the worst thing!” Because if you’re sleeping on your stomach, you’re probably turning your head to one side. And having your neck awkwardly rotated for hours can cause severe back and neck pain, and cause misalignment. Dr. Lefkowitz says if you’re a stomach sleeper, one of the easiest ways to break that habit is to sleep with a full-length body pillow to block yourself from rolling onto your stomach.

If you’re healthy – and your dog is, too – it’s okay to accept doggy kisses. Jan Bellow is president of the American Veterinary Dental College… and she says your dog’s mouth is teeming with bacteria, but her lick’s essentially harmless if you’re both in good health. But keep her from licking any cuts or scrapes. And if her breath could peel paint – avoid her kisses. Because that’s a sign of gum disease, and that bacteria can transfer to you.

Dr. Jeff Brown is the author of The Winner’s Brain. He says gesturing improves your ability to recall a conversation. In fact, it’s especially effective to “air write” something you want to remember – like the milk you need to pick up, or a phone number. The hand movements encode your memories in a different way than verbal cues – improving your recall.

But if yours is out of control, try adding artichokes to your diet.

Researchers found that eating 3 small artichokes a week – or 4 whole artichoke hearts – cuts the risk of intestinal gas by 70%! That’s because artichokes are the only natural source of cynarin – an acid that speeds the breakdown of fats and carbs, so our body absorbs them faster. That means food doesn’t hang out in our digestive tract, fermenting and creating gas. Here’s another fact about cynarin. You can’t taste it, but it causes the next bite of whatever you eat to taste just a little sweeter than it otherwise would. It can even make water taste sweet.

Smile more. Researchers from the University of Southern Brittany in France studied busy intersections. If pedestrians made eye contact and smiled at drivers, they were HALF as likely to get hit! The researchers say eye contact alone is good – a blank stare made 50% of drivers stop. But that number went up to 75% when eye contact was accompanied by a smile. Because the mood boost the driver gets makes them kinder and more cautious.

ficus-plant-wp

Do you see a ficus plant? That could be the reason. Research from Belgium found that 78% of people with airborne allergies react to ficus! But that doesn’t mean you can’t have any indoor plants around – because they can be good for you. Indoor plants not only help people feel more relaxed, some plants can clear allergens from the air. So try something like a hibiscus – which produces little to no airborne pollen. And for cleaner air, NASA recommends a corn plant – also known as a mass cane. It not only can reduce the amount of dust in a small office by 20%. It clears contaminants like formaldehyde from the air – and chemicals like that can make an allergy sufferer even more sensitive to allergy triggers.
