We know that over-use of antibiotics can lead to antibiotic resistant bacteria… But there’s another concern: Type 2 diabetes! Scientists in Denmark found that antibiotics alter the balance of our microbiome. Those are the millions of micro-organisms living in our gut. And when the balance is off, it can cause changes in insulin sensitivity and glucose tolerance – which can increase the risk of Type 2 diabetes.
