Would you believe it’s NOT calling 9-1-1? That’s the word from healthcare expert Leslie Michelson. He wrote “The Patient’s Playbook” – and he says most people make the mistake because they aren’t sure if what they’re experiencing is a true emergency, or serious enough to call for paramedics. But Michelson says it’s best to err on the side of caution. And if the patient has a history of medical issues – like heart disease or diabetes, has a head injury, or is elderly – definitely call 9-1-1.
When I was taking my First Aid/CPR class for Scout Leader training, that was one of the first things they hammered into our mind – Call 911! Good reminder!!
