It’s Labor Day weekend, and that means getting together with family and friends. One of my favorite foods to serve at a cookout or picnic is watermelon. And since one slice of watermelon has nearly 10 ounces of water, it’ll hydrate you as much as drinking a bottle of water. It also contains a tissue-healing antioxidant that acts like sunscreen. And eating two cups a day can cut your risk of sunburn by 26% – and cut your recovery time in half if you do get burned.

According to a report in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, having too many choices can cause you to feel tired. Whether it’s trying to pick from all the coffee choices at Starbucks or pain relievers at the drug store, having to consider too many options – good or bad – can be exhausting.

So what can you do? Once you find something you like, stick with it instead of second-guessing yourself. When you feel more content with the choices you make, you’ll be less stressed, get better sleep, and have more energy.

Is it safe to microwave the cold coffee that’s been sitting around at home or in the office coffee pot all day? The answer is YES. Bacteria won’t grow in black coffee – it contains nothing they feed on. But DON’T reheat a cup of coffee that has milk or sugar in it. Bacteria could be growing in there.

If you want to save your hearing, stay away from ear buds. When people listen to music using ear buds, they turn it up too high in an attempt to drown out outside noise. But ear doctors say our ear isn’t made to listen to music as loudly or as long as we do these days. So instead, get a pair of headphones that blocks ambient noise and listen to music at a lower volume.
