 Sit in a rocking chair!

Researchers at the University of Rochester recruited adults with anxiety. The more the volunteers rocked back and forth, the calmer they felt. In fact, people who rocked for 30 minutes a day were 30% less stressed.

So, why is rocking a stress-reliever? The rhythmic motion causes your brain to produce feel-good chemicals that calm your nerves, and help suppress pain signals. Kind of like when you were rocked to sleep as a baby.

Ladies, I know you want to get your hair off your neck when the weather is hot – but tie it back loosely. Research shows that wearing your hair pulled back tightly triggers headaches in 50% of women.

The main cause is water getting trapped in your ear canal. That creates a breeding ground for bacteria. So do this: Mix 1 teaspoon rubbing alcohol with 1 teaspoon of white vinegar. Using a dropper, put one drop in each ear after every swim to flush out any lingering water. The alcohol/vinegar mixture helps prevent bacterial growth.

…and there’s a good reason. Scientists say, the brain operates best within a small range of temperatures. But like a car engine, it can get overheated and needs to cool down. So when we sweat from our forehead, it cools down our face – and our brain

Those burgers, steaks, or ribs sizzling on the grill are cooking up chemicals that can potentially turn your cells cancerous. High heat reacts with proteins in red meat, poultry and fish to create chemicals that are linked to cancer, especially of the colon and breast. And since they form within cooked meat, you can’t get rid of them by scraping off char. However, meat that’s been marinated in a mixture of thyme, rosemary, garlic, and black pepper has been shown to contain 88% fewer carcinogens after grilling. Marinate your meat for an hour to get the full benefits.

Be sure to cover the 4 most forgotten spots. They are: the back of your ears, the top of your feet, your lips and the most-overlooked sunscreen spot – the part in your hair on your scalp! Doctors say that’s an easy-to-forget area on your body that’s very susceptible to sun damage and skin cancer! So be sure to cover up this weekend.

To get the biggest health boost from tea – brew your own…
Skip the bottled kind.

You’d have to drink 20 bottles a day to get the same level of disease-fighting polyphenols in 1 cup of brewed tea. And if you liked it iced, chill your home-brewed tea immediately so it’ll retain as many antioxidants as possible.

Don’t do it – the crust is the healthiest part! It contains 8 times more cancer-fighting anti-oxidants, which form when the bread is baked. Enjoy the whole sandwich.

If you love pickles – know this: they love you back. Fermented vegetables – like pickles, sauerkraut and brined olives – are full of probiotic bacteria. The kind that can reduce bloating, cramping and other gastro issues within 3 weeks. Just have half-a-cup daily.
